Services & Language

Do you offer counseling in English?+

Yes. Counseling Office Insightia offers fully bilingual counseling sessions in both English and Japanese. Approximately 70% of our current clients are international clients.

Sessions are available in person at our Ichigaya office (a 2-minute walk from Ichigaya Station) or online via video call.

What conditions and concerns do you specialize in?+

We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for:

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD / 強迫症)
  • Eating disorders – including binge eating and bulimia nervosa
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Workplace stress and burnout
  • Multicultural and expat mental health concerns

We are one of the few private practices in Tokyo offering specialist CBT for OCD.

Are online sessions available?+

Yes. Online counseling via video call is available for both English and Japanese sessions. This is particularly convenient for clients based outside Tokyo or those who prefer to meet remotely.

Fees & Insurance

Is national health insurance (国民健康保険) accepted?+

No. Counseling Office Insightia is a private, self-funded practice (自費診療). National health insurance applies only to registered medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics.

Please contact us for current session fees.

Diagnosis & Assessment

Can you provide a formal diagnosis for ASD, ADHD, or other conditions?+

No. In Japan, formal psychiatric diagnoses — including ASD and ADHD — can only be issued by a licensed medical doctor (psychiatrist). As licensed psychologists (公認心理師・臨床心理士), we are not permitted to diagnose or issue diagnostic reports.

If a formal diagnosis is your goal, we recommend consulting a psychiatrist (精神科医) first. We are happy to offer a consultation to help identify appropriate referral options in Tokyo.

Do you offer psychological testing or assessment?+

We offer adult cognitive assessments including the WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale) in English.

We do not currently offer formal psychological assessment for children or adolescents. For child or adolescent assessments (e.g. WISC, ADOS, Conners), we recommend consulting a specialist hospital or clinic.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?+

CBT is one of the most well-researched psychological treatments available. It focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to distress. CBT has strong evidence for OCD, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and many other conditions.

At Insightia, all therapy is grounded in evidence-based approaches.
